gibbon diet and treats

This site is about the Lar Gibbon or white-handed gibbon (Hylobates lar), an ape that swings through the trees using its long arms like pendulums until it works up enough swing to carry it to the next tree. This method is called brachiation. Gibbons are able to leap distances of 50 feet (15m) up to 35 mph. When they walk on large branches or on the ground they raise their arms for balance. On this site you will find more information about keeping lar gibbons in captivity.
